COVID-19: Return to In-Person Learning
Principal Dr. Simpson is busy as usual, with the 2021-2022 school year.
Incentives continue to motivate students for everything from attendance to class participation.
Starting a New School Year
With vaccinations and still practicing social distancing, the school year opened with in-person learning. Although ASA throughout the Covid lockdown offered some measure of in-person learning and support for students who needed it

Still, staff and students were excited to nearly all be back at school. Staffers continued to reach out to students to provide computers to those who can't attend in person, but also to provide strong incentives for those who come to keep their attendance and academic performance strong.

Our community partners (BUILD, WestCare, Prevention Partnership, City Colleges of Chicago, and many others) offer the support students need to stay in school and graduate.

In photo above, just before the first day of school, ASA staffers donned t-shirts designed by students in the summer program to demonstrate cohesion and a single-minded purpose to reopen school. In photo below staff demonstrates school spirit.
GRADUATION 2021
Every graduation is an occasion to celebrate obstacles students and their families overcome to get to success. The 2021 graduation was particularly worthy of celebration because of the slight easing of Covid-19 meant more family members could attend, take photos with graduates and meet with teachers and staff -- still social distancing. Fifteen graduates received diplomas -- pandemic style.
